The 3-row SUV is becoming increasingly popular for growing families - many of these families which include pets. Subaru devotes their time to showing their commitment to safety for Subaru drivers, passengers, and their pets. Subaru recently partnered with the Center for Pet Safety (CPS) to find the most effective safety measures for pets traveling in SUVs.
Where your pets should be placed depends on the size of your pet. Based on the research conducted by Subaru and CPS, here are the safest spots to secure your pet in a 3-row vehicle:
- Pets should never be placed on the floor between seats due to injury concerns for both pets and passengers.
- Pets 20 pounds and under should be properly secured in a 2nd row seat.
- Pets 20 pounds and over should be properly secured on the 3rd row bench, directly behind the captain's chairs.
- If a child is in the vehicle, place the child in the 2nd row, and secure the pet in the 3rd row, on the opposite side of the vehicle.
The 3-row Subaru Ascent features additional safety features to ensure the safety of you, your passengers, and your pet. Available safety features include:
- Pre-Collision Braking
- Blind-Spot Detection
- Rear Cross-Traffic Alert
- Lane Change Assist
